How cumulative GPA works
A cumulative GPA blends two GPAs together, weighted by the credits behind each one:
Cumulative GPA = (previous GPA × previous credits + current GPA × current credits) ÷ total credits
For example, if you carried a 3.5 GPA over 24 credits and earned a 2.9 GPA across another 15 credits, your cumulative GPA would be:
(3.5 × 24 + 2.9 × 15) ÷ 39 = 3.27
The more credits you have behind a GPA, the more influence it has on the combined result.
