How cumulative GPA works
A cumulative GPA blends two GPAs together, weighted by the credits behind each one:
Cumulative GPA = (previous GPA × previous credits + current GPA × current credits) ÷ total credits
For example, if you carried a 3.5 GPA over 24 credits and earned a 2.9 GPA across another 15 credits, your cumulative GPA would be:
(3.5 × 24 + 2.9 × 15) ÷ 39 = 3.27
The more credits you have behind a GPA, the more influence it has on the combined result.
Grading scales
Choose the scale that applies to your country at the top of the calculator. The GPA values you enter are checked against the top of that scale. Grading systems vary by country and institution, so confirm the final number with your school.
